PIEDRAS BRILLANTES

The following comments have been left in the visitors' book by people staying in the villa:

Can't fault the house - all creature comforts.

We loved the house, spacious, clean, comfortable- everything for a perfect stay.

Nothing short of excellent - very comfortable, homely and in a beautiful location. Lived up to our expectations and would certainly come again.

Lovely villa and location just right.

This was our 2nd visit to the villa and was even more enjoyable than the first. We enjoyed good weather throughout our holiday and spent most of it by the pool.

Very relaxing break. Made the most of the video.

Lovely holiday with our friends. Apart from noisy dogs very peaceful relaxed holiday.

Played Val del Este golf course. Had early morning tee time due to hot weather. Course is very difficult - make sure you have plenty of spare balls.

Villa is in a perfect position for visiting places of interest in the surrounding area. Nijar and Mojacar Pueblo both worth a visit. Garrucha market on Friday is very good.

Weather beautiful. The villa is in very good position to explore the region from Villaricos in the north to Roquetas in the south. The inland area of Almeria is one surprise after another, beautiful mountain villages and lakes, get out on the raod and explore when you have had enough of the pool and sunbathing.

(The various people who mentioned that they fed the little black and white dog and gave it various names will be sorry to hear that she has disappeared. She belonged to Rosa, who lives across the road, was really called Chica, and vanished suddenly without trace.)

Hi Liz, We had a great holiday. The Villa is in a great location and enjoyed walking round the local area and visiting the beach etc. The Villa itself is brill and we will def consider it for the future. It was spotless (the ladies and man who came it clean the inside and the pool seemed really nice) and we enjoyed the pool and the swing chair outside and table tennis. Absolutely nothing but positive things to say - and the sun shone really hot which was a bonus too.

------

7 of us stayed at Piedras Brillantes over Easter and had a fantastic time.

The weather was sunny enough to live outside during most of the day and enjoy the pool, but not so hot that we needed to seek shade very often. We breakfasted outside in the morning sun, enjoying croissants from the local shop, and fresh-squeezed juice from the local oranges, which are incredibly sweet!

The villa is spacious and well stocked. We enjoyed the barbecue on a few occasions, there were numerous pool toys, a small (but diverse) library of English books, and English TV was available so we could keep up-to-date with the rotten weather that our freinds were putting up with back home!

We are not a particularly 'beachy' family, so whilst we visited the beach on a few occasions it was to explore rather than just lie in the sun. We did a different thing each day. Visited the market at Garrucha, the 'deserted village' at Marchalico Vinicas, but the most memorable event was the Semana Santa in Vera. This is a spectacular Easter procession with enormous effigies of Christ paraded through the town accompanied by marching bands, eerie costumes and clouds of incense smoke. Well worth experiencing if you visit at Easter.

Our boys are interested in wildlife and enjoy bird-watching. We were treated to swallows, Theckla Larks (we think) and a host of other fauna.

I am a runner, and found a lovely 7K route (advertised as a 'walk', but I ran it anyway) which starts from the villa with a nice down-hill warm up, along the bottom of the canyon which is cool and shaded and has interesting rock formations and a little stream, then about half-way through the run, emerges into sunlight again with a moderate climb on to the top of the canyon, and back through almond groves.

Hi Liz,

I just wanted to email to say that we had a lovely holiday in Piedras
Brillantes and have returned to work with our batteries recharged. It
was total relaxation.  We left comments in the Guest book about the
various things we got up to, so I won't repeat them here.
Anyway just to say thanks for everything - and you are so lucky to own
such a lovely home in such a lovely part of the world.

regards,
Geraldine
